Have rebuilt an AR XA but seem to be having a problem with the power supply/voltage selector switch. Can anyone supply me with a with a circuit diagram for stepping our local 220v down to 110v at 50hz? Then maybe I can get rid of the overly complex and possibly faulty selector switch and simplify the whole thing somewhat....

Thanks

A 2:1 step down transformer is all you need, they are probably available from electronic parts suppliers in SA. Alternatively have you tried looking for a mains adapter? Comes with input and output connectors already fitted (for safety) and probably not much more than a transformer. You need very little power for a TT motor, probably less than 50Watts, maybe even as little as 10Watts.

Hi,

All you need to do is ~ double the value of the supply resistors
and ~ half the value of the phase shifting capacitor (or leave it).
Just make sure the capacitor has the correct voltage rating.

Many 240VAC turntables use 110V synchronous motors, e.g. LP12.

Search .....
