Default Revolver/ADC alignment

Apologies for my lack of knowledge, but I have a few question regarding alignment.

I am trying to align my ADC LMF-2 on my Revolver Rebel TT. From the Vinyl Engine tonearm database, the LMF-2 data has,

effective length = 237mm
mounting distance = 222mm
overhang = 15mm
offset = 21.6 deg
nullpoints = 60.3/114.2 mm

I've checked the distance from the platter centre to the arm pivot-point and this is approx 220mm (not 222mm as stated). Using the bog-standard Stevenson protractor (downloaded from VE), the only way I can get the cartridge alignment to agree on BOTH of the two grids is to rotate the cartridge in the mounting. Checking the effective length (stylus-tip to tonearm-pivot) is approximately 237/238mm.

Questions,

1. Is what I have done logical?
2. Should the cartridge be 'square' in the tonearm mount?
3. I've used the standard Stephenson protractor - should I use one which is better for the null-points for the ADC?
4. Would the the difference in the mounting distance have a significant effect?

Any advice would be most gratefully received

Ross

Hi Ross,

I'm using the same arm on a Walker cj55 and Benz ace L and not faced that kind of problem using what I believe is the same protractor as you (VE with two grids). I've used this arm with several cartridges (Denon DL160,Ortofon MC 20...) with no such problem so maybe the mounting distance causing this??

Hi,

Thanks for the information.

I have now redrilled the board to set the arm at 222mm.

Arm-arc now spot-on as is cartridge alignment at both null-points stated in the ADC spec with the cartridge 'square in the headshell. Overhang checked and confirmed to be 15mm.

Sorted,

Ross
