Default Turntable - auto doesn't working

I have this Dual CS528 belt-driven turntable that works fine except that its automatic function doesn't work. I have to operate it manually. Is there any chance that the problem can be fixed as a diy project? I did open the bottom cover to have a real look at it but couldn't figure out which part has gone wrong. Your views and advice would be greatly appreciated.

hi
very often this problem is due to dryed up/gunged up linkage usualy the ones under the platter, there are plastic ones and metal ones. a good clean with spray cleaner alc based and a light oil will cure this problem. be care ful not to get the oil everywhere especially not on the motor or belt

Like Burbeck said: the lubricating grease has hardened.

Check all movable linkages underneath the table and if anyone of them needs any type of force to move, it needs to be cleaned!
One of them will be for the automatic part of your turntable.
