Default Cartridge recommendation?

Hi There

I have a 1984 vintage Audioquest 404 MC cartridge that has been in storage (with the turntable and system for about 4 years). I am
pretty sure the cart is dead, but can this be rebuilt?

If not, what cartridge would be recommended for this system?

Linn Majik-I

Linn Keilidh's

Rega P3 TT with RB300 arm

I am primarily an acoustic and big band jazz listener and the AQ 404 is a high output moving coil design

Thanks

Robert Warren

For acoustic and big jazz band music try the Benz ACE,high or low ,even medium output. It will kill both the denon and any rega cartridges

Get the AQ 404 retipped.. I'll post the details tomorrow.. To my surprise this rather obscure cartridge has a substantial following here in the US and is rather well regarded. It might just eat a few of the suggestions here for breakfast.

Here is the specific soundsmith cartridge retipping page:

These guys also build their own cartridges and specialize in Denon and other types as well..

Default Ortogon 2M blue

Or Black.
Seems like the cart was made for that arm and table.
