Hi guys,
I am a real newbie in this and would like to check with anyone who could give me any advice on choosing a LP player, looking at a couple of 2nd hands player over here in China, but not sure how to test them, and what to look out for. Also am i correct to say that i can just connect the lp player via RCA to my amps, nothing more complicated then that right? I did do a search on Lp players but don't seem to see any of these. many thanks to anyu advice. |

Not quite; you need to apply an RIAA correction curve to the output from the LP. This requires a phono preamp. Regards. Aengus |

It would help if you said which players you are interested in.

Decide on how much you are willing to spend.
We'll assume that you are looking for solid state only. Read as much info and feedback on audio/vinyl related forums as you can find. Ask questions relating to units in your price range. Hopefully this will narrow your potential candidates to 2 or 3 units. Jeff |

Start with anything.
Try to get an old planar 3 preferably with rb300 tonearm. That's what I started on, still have it. Start with a cheap preamp and get a better one when you can. Try to divide your free cash between lp's and upgrades. |

OK, nothing very special. I would much rather have a second hand Rega. I would be very surprised if the NAD was worth anything very much these days, so I hope that most of the cost you mention is for the phono stage, |
