Hi,

The point I made many moons ago is the $20 cartridge is arguably
as good as many of the $70 to $100 cartridges you can buy, and is
an absolute bargain. I've tried it, nothing not to like. Tracks well
at modest downforce and has a 0.3x0.7 bushed elliptical tip.
Much better idea than the venerable budget classic - the AT95E.

I not saying there are not better cartridges at up to $100, I am
saying given the vagaries of taste and system matching it is
probably as good as any them. In technical terms it is.

So its pointless saying I'm saying a Thorens only deserves
a $20 cartridge, that is not what I said at all. I said the $20
AT can be as good as anything you could buy for say < $120.

It is still a fact the arms are the weaker points of Thorens
turntables, but as I have also said, that does not stop
them providing good performance. YMMV but using a
Bluepoint in one won't get the best out of the Bluepoint,
and arguably a Bluepoint will not get the best out of the
arm at all, compared to say an AT120E/T or AT440ML(a/b).

Here your talking $120 or $200 for a cartridge. I stand by
my assertion the $20 AT is a bargain and a very good idea.

rgds, sreten.
