Question Pre/post echo

Pre/post echo. How bad does it get?

I'm making a TT. I'm pleased with my results as I am hearing more of the "phenomenon", so much so that I'm theorizing that groove bleed through is heard on one speaker, whereas tape print through is heard from both speakers. My concern is does this get any worse as I'm in process of adding a new controller/motor. Is there such a thing as too quiet a TT?

Another theory is that this is the nature of my cartridge, a Shure M97xE. Shures have always been known as great trackers, but too much information from the record is starting to become noise. I understand that these are limitations of the medium, but how are these issues address by other cartridges especially the expensive ones? I'm asking as I've never had a cartridge costing more than $400.

Welcome to high end analog, where all your treasured albums become unlistenable.

The very worst are the otherwise-excellent Proprius records, really annoying pre-echo.

Tell me about it!. I'm actually concerned about that. My prized record collection is mostly from family and friends. Shaded dogs, Prestige, Mercurys to name a few. I'm rotating 20 to 30 albums that I'm fairly familiar with since I started making this TT. About 10 to 15 percent have pre-echo. Pablo with Sarah Vaughn, Verve with Billie H., Readers Digest 9 Beethoven Symphonies (RCA's) This are the vintage records, while newer re-releases are Analogue Productions Bill Evan/Toni Bennett, MFSL Muddy Waters, etc. Which Proprius? Jazz at the Pawnshop?
