I recently bought my first turntable ever.

It is a Pioneer PL-200 Turntable, itt was in good working condition.

BUT

The sound is very very faint. I've tested it with several speaker setups. So it is definitely the turntable.

Should I replace the stylus AND / OR the cartridge? I NEED recommendations - as far as brands, models, etc.

I've looked up several sites on what type of cartridge mount I have and it is very confusing.

Any advice is appreciated.

You probably don't need a cartridge or stylus. Turntables have extremely low output and require a phono preamp to boost the signal to a level compatible with most newer amps. Your amp or receiver may not have a phono preamp built in. Most newer ones don't.

If that is the case you must get a phono pre. If you are on a budget the Art DJ phono preamp is well under $100, sounds pretty good has selectable capacitance and adjustable gain.
