Default Teac 3440 Capstan drive

Hello,
I have a question about the captan drive on a Teac 3440. It does not turn. Is it driven directly or is it driven by a belt? The take up reel moves ok. If it's a belt then I would need a new one if not then I have a boat anchor! Thanks,
David

Default Belt Driven

I used to have one of these several years ago. AFAIK it is belt driven. I think I may have a manual for it somewhere.

Cheers
