Hello everyone!

First of all excuse me for my english, it's not very charming.
Few months ago I decided to build my own turntable, but looking for information in DIY forums and DIY Builders i found the "same trouble": why I have to build a Belt Drive Turntable? I want a Direct Drive one, I don't want a Hi-end like Thorens, Rega and Clearaudio clones. I just want to play with my two other Technics SL1210, cueing and scratching (I wouldn't do this with a Thorens).

I'm decided to build a Technics SL1210MK2, better said, I'll buy a SL1210MK2 disarm the metal and rubber body and make one on wood. I'll respect dimensions and weight as close as possible.

Perhaps a little more round and less square design would be more appropiate.

Any suggestion about what kind of wood? Suspension?

Thanks!!

the idea is not to make it better, i want to make it more beautiful!!

Perhaps with 3 or 4 wood bodies with some damp material (foam, silent blocks, suspension system).

Any suggestion about a very high density wood??

It's a good idea to change the arm, but i want to keep the direct drive and the pitch.
