Default Southwest Technical Products Preamp schematic

Still using this preamp and thought others might enjoy stuff from the manual included with the kit. The kit is described in an issue of popular electronics from the 70s (all issues at americanradiohistory.com) I THINK (maybe it was Radio Electronics). since there is so little information about this preamp online other than that I scanned the schematic and the parts list. the spring reverb sound and the parametric eq on this thing have long been a source of enjoyment. we got our 100 bucks out of this one.

Have you try replacing the 5558 dual op amp with something batter? It is the dual version of the good old 741 op amp and the limiting factor in the SWTPC preamp.

Hi keilau. Never thought about it as I am pretty happy with the sound. the old amps I use are pretty noisy anyway. But now that you mention it I did use sockets for the ICs...

It's a guitar preamp. There's a special section for that to keep the hi-fi sections clean.
