Best preamp kit/components?

I want to add a record player to my setup so now I need a preamp. What are the best kits/components around?

Requirements:

  1. Balanced input and output
  2. 2 or more inputs
  3. Possibility for digital volume control and source selection

Current setup consists of a Buffalo III dac and IcePower amp modules.
I will probably go for a pro-ject and if needed a Twisted Pear Retro RIAA

Any advice or input is highly appreciated
