Last nigth my preamplifier started smoking , can anyone help me identify this component the black square seems to be the problem...
That's a full wave diode rectifier block. Probably the capacitor after it has shorted also.
thanks , i can solder fine but i only know how to replace components for similar ones , where can i find a preplacement of the same value ? i will replace all the capacitors on the board just in case
You should be able to buy one at any electronics supply house, even RadioShack. Just make sure it's rated at a higher voltage than the capacitor connected to it.
Bridge rectifier. That's a high power/high current bridge rectifier. It shouldn't do that... unless it's fake.
