Hello everyone,

Sorry if this subject had already been treated but I couldn't find an answer to my question.

I want to build a phono amp for MM cells. One of my imperative is the PCB being available with good documentation on the project.

I already piked those :
_ Hagerman - Bugle 2 $139
_ Rod Elliott (ESP) - Phono Preamp Project 06 $???
_ RJM - VSPS 300 Dual-Mono MM Phono Stage with X-Reg $150
_ Boozhiund - JFET Phono/RIAA Preamp + PowerSupply $158

Which one do you think is the best ? Do you have other recommendations (PCBs available with documentation) ?

Thank you very much !

Rod Elliott (ESP) - Phono Preamp Project 06
Boozhound - JFET Phono/RIAA Preamp + PowerSupply

I've built both the above and found that, though there's nothing wrong with Rod Elliott's design, the Boozhound kit did sound rather better.

In fairness, I used a slightly better PSU for it but there seems to be something about feedback-free designs that appeals to my ear. (I also built a feedback-free I/V stage for my DAC.)

HTH

Dave
