How best to implement image mode controls
Hello,
apologies in advance for this simple question, but I'm a beginner and looking for advice. I've built an Aikido-based preamp (linestage really) with a 50K Alps motorized volume control and would like to implement a "stereo-reverse-left only-right only-mono" switch, as seen in many ARC preamps and so on. Old-fashioned perhaps, but assuming I really desire this feature, I'm looking for help on the best way to implement such a switch. I suppose the main question is where it should fall in the signal chain - before volume control, between volume control and linestage, or after linestage? If anybody cares to offer advice or opinions, I'll have some other questions, but let's start with that. Thanks in advance, Adastra. |
Hi,
Presuming you never use a full volume setting, after the volume pot is the only place you can correctly short left and right together for mono, the stereo pot will act as a passive mixer, isolating each channel. rgds, sreten. |
Thanks Sreten, I'll keep at it.
