hello, working on a muting relay circuit, this will unground (unshort) the preamp output a few seconds after startup allowing the preamp output to flow on to the next stage. (esp design)

any suggestions on a relay i could use for this?

source ac will be around 20v (i know how to bring it down if need be to a lower voltage), needs to pull around 15ma at the coil and the 20v ac applied will disconnect the grounded preamp outputs.

i have no idea how to go about choosing a relay.. any help for this newb?

Look for small signal type relays "<2A".

I have a preference for IM series of relays (DigiKey)

I have also used G6K types.

The IM have a minimum switching voltage of 100uV. This is the type of number that is nice to find in the data sheet.

The G6K types have a "Min. permissible load" of 10 μA at 10 mVDC.

You will want to have very small numbers like this for signal switching.

IMHO of course.

excellent, i really appreciate it, sir! that helped tremendously. i kinda lost with all of the options for relays!

kinda new to the whole diy world.. and there are a lot of options to choose from. digikey is not the easiest to navigate when you don't know what you are looking for.

the g6k model is exactly what i am looking for.

thanks!
