I found this to work the best for limiting, and impact on distortion at 1V output is very small.

I would like to have higher clipping limit and I used three dodes string do get that, but distortion incresed to much for my taste. With LED insted 1N4148 is a bit better bur still to much.

Lower FFT is with no clipper connected.

It looks like you have Rout very high. I have it at 2k. For me THD only increased 6db or so at 1V output.

Try moving the diode limiter to Vout2. Then put antiparallel diodes between Vout and Vout2. The antiparallel diodes acts as an output current limit which engages when the voltage limiter conducts. The current limit will engage at 18mA for silicon, 9mA for schottkey. The voltage limiter will cause less distortion because it is now at a low impedance node.

Rout was set to 560 ohm for that simulation.

If you need more limit voltage, don't add diodes to the limiter. Instead add diodes above R17; this way the limit will be more abrupt and the diodes won't have to share the reverse bias. I have R17 at 5.6k - but I doubt this matters.

You mean above R17 and below R13? It did not change anything and how it could!

The bottom of D6 should be connected below the new diodes.

It is better now, it seams that R13, R17 with 5.6k value give much lower distortion before clipping.
