Well, how many do you have? If in doubt you could always sell them since people have already been going to the trouble of making DIY replacements (by hand-matching transistors) for these rather hard-to-find parts. In case of the 2SC1583, apparently even fakes have surfaced.

These dual transistors were typically used as the input differential pair in opamp-type circuits (usually power amps or more rarely, phonopres).

Since they are complementary, one could make a dual differential input opamp (akin to this circuit but for smaller powers and unity gain stable) and use it in an inverting Baxandall tone control. Though honestly, I'd rather use it for the output amplifier and entrust the tone control to a plain ol' NE5532.
