Ok this is really really basic. But I'm rather new to electronics soooo....
I have a CDA-254L Kit from Class D Audio. I want to wire a dual gang pot on the line level (obviously) and need to figure out just one thing. Google provides a few alternatives that seem to have no logical choice pattern.
Where the hell the ground on the vol pot should be wired.
Should I wire like this:
or should my ground go to the AC mains ground/earth?
Nothing else in the kit needs to be grounded (I asked) and so my amp is being mounted to an open wooden board (for now) so I can't just ground to the case.
Thank-you for helping with such a basic and yet frustrating thing!
Mitch

That looks just about perfect to me.
You don't need to connect the black (braid) to anything "earthy" - that will be taken care of in the PC and/or Amp.
And don't be reticent about asking questions, no matter how dumb they seem - I wish such a forum existed 50 years ago when I started doing this stuff - there was NO-ONE to ask!

Thank-you very much clifffo.
And yeah I wish I had someone I could learn from directly! But the forums really help.

You may (or must?) have to wire a grounding wire from the metal parts of the vol pot to the main Audio Ground.
Check for DC delivered from the PC.

Leave it as it is unless you get a bit of "Hum".
If it hums then we can address possible alernatives to get rid of the offending hum.
