Voltage squared, divided by resistance, is Watts. 1V^2/10,000 = 0.000,1 Watts 10V^2/10,000 = 0.01 Watts So a 0.000,1W part is probably OK, a 0.01W part is surely OK. (Extra-OK because "1V signal" often means Peak, the average is lower, and something as big as a pot won't cook on a short audio peak.) Since you can't buy less than 0.05W, it isn't important.

10th July 2012, 04:12 PM #6 diyAudio Member   Join Date: Jun 2011 It doesn't work ! I've just tried a 10K Alps pot in front of my Seiwin ST-6A active monitors. The multi-meter says what you'd expect but the volume doesn't go down ?

It gives _NO_ useful information to aid debugging. > The multi-meter says what you'd expect What would _I_ expect? And what did you expect? Say what you got, not a reference to some one else's expectation. Look at Beavis' page and try it his way. Stereo Volume Controls If you found a _stereo_ pot with all the pins in-line, the pinout is tricky. I can't find my sketch; and since these are very-low-cost (cheap) pots, I would suggest getting a more-normal (and perhaps better quality) 2-unit pot.
