Default Audio Pre Amplifier

There are many different sources of audio signals these days: many different microphones, iPods, iPads, Cellular Telephones, PC Audio Cards, MP3 Players, Guitar Hum Buckers, Keyboards, etcetera.

The analogue outputs of these are not standardised. As a consequence of which the sound level differs tremendously as depends on the device used. For example, there are many microphones which can barely be heard with the same settings with which other microphones perform normally. Also, there are many devices which have microphone inputs with different parameters. The same microphone may not be heard when connected to a given device even at highest possible volume adjustment while this may perform well with other.

The same can be said for amplified PC speakers. Either the PC output or the amplifier of the speakers may be too weak to perform to the expectations.

I have, therefore, done a simple device which uses simple and basic electronics circuitry which is a three channel pre amplifier and can be used in many combinations thereof. One of the most useful application may be as a microphone and amplified speaker pre amplifier.

I have been using this device and the sound performance of the PC has been improved tremendously.

It may be best to post the schematic here in a more accessible format. The Word document on your site was missing a lot of info when I opened it.

I am trying to do so. I will most likely be able to convert to another format but I do not know how to post schematics on your blog. In the mean time, I have updated the document on the web site. The format is still .docx, though, and seems to work well with Office 2010 but I have noticed the same problems which you have encountered with other web sites.

Please, comment on which are the best formats for your web site. Pictures, pdf's, simple doc files?

Your site has rather too much info on it. I hope you don't get too many 'donations' from Nigeria.

Yes, but the information is very well organised. Do NOT read what you do NOT want. Or don't read anything at all.

"Donations" from Nigeria are welcome as long as these are in convertable currency or in Nigerian girls.

I have sent the schematics as a .jpg attachment to the post. Didn't know the posts can have attachments. Insert file/picture to be displayed would have been nice.

You can do either. We encourage attachments for several reasons, but you can also insert images from elsewhere.

Your jpeg came across just fine, thanks! Do you want to discuss your design choices and reasons?

I clicked on "Electronics for Musicians," and I must say it's... novel.

CLATIFICATION:

THIS SCHEMATIC IS INCREADIBLY STANDARD, SIMPLE AND BASIC: JUST A SIMPLE NON INVERTING AMPLIFIER CHEWED A FEW TIMES. NOTHING INCREADIBLE. YOU MAY FIND NOT TO BE WORTH EVEN LOOKING AT THE SCHEMATICS.

The document on the web site gives a brief idea for a simple amplifier which can easily be derived from this circuit with a common collector booster at the output of the IC. Also, pretty standard.

Other documents on the web site give an amplifier with two separate power supplies which is also very basic, just an IC with a common emitter and a common collector at the output with which you can built an amplifier with any power as long as you have power supply.

The reason not to publish these two amplifier circuits is because I haven't materialised them as yet and, although they are so simple and basic, a miracle on Wall Street is necessary for one to make a mistake, I have decided not to publish them here because I haven't actually made them, real situation tested them, verified them, etcetera. I may publish them as ideas but I still don't know how this blog works. I've seen a lot of ideas, though.

ANYWAYS, THE PRE AMPLIFIER IS TRIED TESTED AND TRUE. WORKS WITH THE GUITAR TOO. BOOSTS THE GUITAR WHEN PLUGGED TO A GENERAL PURPOSE OR A GUITAR AMPLIFIER AND MAINLY WHEN PLUGGED TO A PC. ONE CAN RECORD DIRECTLY FROM THE GUITAR THROUGH THE PRE AMPLIFIER INTO THE ANALOGUE INPUT OF THE PC AUDIO CARD AT ANY VOLUME ONE WANTS!
