Hey, everyone!
I'm new to the forum, so please excuse any poor assumptions I may make... I recently purchased a DTA-1 T amp and have paired it with two Polk Monitor40's. For the low end, I have a Polk PSW505 (perhaps overkill ). As you probably know, most T-amps don't have an equalizer - the only control mechanism is the volume pot. So, I'm looking for a way to shape the sound a bit.I think what I need is a decent quality and inexpensive equalizer (I think an off-the-shelf version will work better than anything I can build) to pass the input through before it hits the T-amp. I can always tweak the EQ on my computer/iPhone/etc, but I'd like to be able to swap my iPhone out for a friend's without having to mess with the software-based equalizer. What are your thoughts? Thanks! ![]() -Rich |

I bought a used band PA equalizer as a package with my speakers power amp mixer effect etc. There is too much mechanical work for diy on an equalizer. But it is not perfect. As band equipment retired from the road, some of the slide pots need replacement. And the op amps are not ideal for hi-fidelity, they are wonderful for driving cables 100' to the stage. Less hiss, less output current op amps are in the future. If you look at my signature, you will see which brand I favor because you can download the schematics from the website. Hint- dynakit hammond and steinway never made an equalizer. when buying used band equipment, make sure you get stereo, not a mono equalizer.

Behringer CX2310 makes a nice subwoofer equalizer for less than 100 bucks at Parts Express. See also "Cult of the Infinitely Baffled" (Google it) on how to set the CX2310 up as a very flexible subwoofer equalizer.
This is the direction I am heading. Sorry. I's the BFD (DSP1124P for 148 bucks) from Behringer that is used for subwoofers. See his link. http://home.comcast.net/~thomasw-2/S...ndEQpage6.html From IB group. Last edited by stoc005; 23rd November 2011 at 03:34 AM. Reason: Wrong Behringer unit given. |
