Default remote control unit

Hey guys, my dad had made me a preamp for a system he built for me. Unfortunately he died before he finished all the details. Many of you may have known him. His name was Bill. Anyhow, he put a remote control unit in the preamp. It is hooked up, but I do not know what kind it is and how I can get the information i need to make it function. Take a look at the picture i attached. Wondering if any of you can help out. Thanks in advance.

According to the information on the site, it looks like any universal remote that supports "Phillips" devices should work. You can probably get it going using the code search feature of the remote.

Default remote

Well I have to know when the power turns off and on inside the control for the remote to be programmed. Looks like I am going to have to learn the circuit before I can program the remote. The power is not hooked up to the remote pcb. It looks like i have toggle -> transformer for power. does it need to be parallel to function as one? Arrg
