BBE FJB-200X

I bought the BBE FJB-200X solid state phono preamp from Guitar Center for $50 and sounds pretty good. It's all I have at the moment. I was wondering if anyone had used this preamp and what they thought of it. Should I go ahead and make a DIY one (for my audio technica mm cartridge, that came with my $20 Technics SL-D2 flee market turntable) ? Or can anyone recommend a better one to buy that is under $100?

I was happy to find your post via google this morning, even though it appears you have had no answers. I'm contemplating this same pre on fleabay myself and wonder about experiences with it. I'm dipping back into vinyl myself and can at least point you towards a pre I DO have experience with, the ART DJpre II. New for $40-50 it's a pretty reliable little rig that does what it is supposed to. A couple of features that it has missing from most others in the sub-$100 category is adjustable gain trim (good for MM/MC variations in carts), a rumble filter and switchable input capacitance between 100pF and 200pF at the touch of a button. No audiophile pre, for sure, but huge bang for the buck.

Would still like to know more about the BBE myself though...
