Default How many times can you split a line level output?

For example, I’m using typical Y splitter from the mono subwoofer “out” to drive to two amplifiers. Not have any problems that I can tell, plenty of gain, etc. However thinking about add a third amplifier.

How many times can you split a line level output? I didn’t really want to add a powered splitter; I thought it might create more problems – than it would help.

If I need to add a powered device, what’s a good unit?

My apologies if this topic has been posted before.

Hi,

For a sub-out adding another amplifier should be fine. Driving cable
capacitances at high frequencies causes the normal passive limit.

rgds, sreten.

There's also the impedance question. As parallel more inputs, the total impedance seen by the source drops. This requires more current and, eventually, the source begins to distort the signal. Unfortunately, there's no one-answer-fits-all solution here because input impedance of "line-level" inputs can vary quite a bit.
