Well after a failed attempt to get a volumite working im looking for alternatives for a preamp. I have a +-12v supply and a spare pga2310 setup. However it is just raw in and out, there is no buffers or coupling caps. This is fine for the input since my dac is both cap coupled and using an opamp for balanced to unbalanced conversion.
However the output is what im worried about. Should i put some resistors in line with the output to protect the pga? Something like 100-1k or something? My other option was to build another amb mini3 with a gain of 2 using a LME49720/LM4562 with a 10k stepped attenuator. Im not sure which is better, i havent heard the pga, and i have a stock mini3 with a 50k stepped that sounds great to me, but its for headphone use. |

The PGA2310 is short ciruit proof.
However, it is ALWAYS advisable to include 50 Ohms resistor in series with the output of any op-amp (in this case the internal op-amp gain/buffer stage) in order to prevent instability when driving capacitive loads, which is typically what you will find when driving a cable. |
