Cheap volume control chip

Saw this little guy in my new parts express mag:

So its a chip volume attenuator that uses a single supply. In theory you could adjust vcc so that there is zero dc offset depending if your amps input sits at 2.5v like a tripath amp.

This could be nice for just 10 bucks and i would think couldnt be any worse then my $15 smt stepped attenuators from ebay.
