Harmon Kardon Citation Seventeen Repair

Allright Im a nubbie and did alot of searching before posting this. Im recapping the citation 17 and noticed the bridge rectifier had leaked out also so I need a schematic for a citation 17 non S version the S has different boards in it. I also was wondering if I should step up the specs on the bridge because Im increasing the large caps on the pwr supply board not sure if you call them main rail caps on a preamp from 1000 uf 50v to 3300 uf 50v and Im picking up some nicholson muse caps and was wondering if they are up to the task?
The preamp had one channel that was weak it had sound but was weaker with almost no bottom end. Hope this is not too much of a rant for a newb.

it seems that this a very nice machine ... with a lot of potential ...in all cases the easiest thing to do is to replace all ( alla means all ) electrolytic caps then see if you vcan upgrade any op amps inside and then see if you can upgrade any other parts inside ...

its not realy the easiest thingto do but it can be done and also worth trying

Thanks for the reply I have replaced all but main power caps and still waiting for those to be shipped so I ordered some more nichicon muse kz I will let ya know how it turns out.

Hello everybody today I got my last batch of caps and went to town when I got home soldered in the caps on the power board checked the bridge rectifier it was ok I didnt have the right replacement for it anyways. And first tried the headphones and nothing so I hooked it up to the citation 16 and my mackie fr m1400 byamping some rs kappa 8s. This preamp sounds alot better than the denon dap 5500 I used for a while!

I wound up installing nichicon ks, Muse fg, kz, fw caps it sounds really good what I was wondering was if the caps in the signal paths need to burn in like say a passive crossover. Im listening to some jerry bergonzi and my man kinni abair its all good. Still need to do the EQ card and phono and get the rectifier bridge also.

Well I want to say thanks too DIY and boards like phoenix gold phorum because I was able to do alot of research and find out what I needed to do and fixed my car amps and now my home preamp! Knowledge is power.
