Thanks for all the suggestions. I have subsequently found many other phono projects here, as well as requests/questions similar to my own; my early searches were limited to "Analogue Line" section. I thought it was curious how few threads I was finding on phono preamps....

Shaun, I have a project with me that I've been using for quite some time. its really good and not overly complicated. Only problem is it is a scan from a magazine (Elektor India 1991) and the pdf file size is more 6mb. Maybe I could mail it to you if you like.

It is a very good circuit. I've been using it for some time now along with the Quasi NMOS power amp. The only change from the original schematic is C2 which I changed from 150n to 100n as I was not too happy with the bass.
