Tube preamp hum and noise.

Are tube line stage generally have more hum and noise than solid state line stage?

I'm eyeing this tube preamp board from ebay, Is this good? Tube preamplifier PCB w/parts,ref Matisse Fantasy/LS-25 - eBay (item 260289072700 end time Mar-12-10 05:29:59 PST)

Any other linestage recommendation.

I tried to build two of theses a few years ago. They sounded pretty good, not great. I could never get rid of the hum they made. I threw the book at both of them and finally gave up. I think the problems is with the PS. YMMV

If properly built, no.

Time spent in choosing a power supply will pay off big time when it comes to a quiet line stage, I'm stuck in these decisions right now
