Talking low gain 12ax7 schematic

can any one suggest me a schematic?
i search for low gain 12ax7 preamp.
but i dont find any.
i wanted gain under 10
because my amp already have plenty of gain.
i really appreciate if anyone can give me the schematic.

why 12AX7 ?

mediocre tube in that position ;

it's made for entirely different duties

beside 12ax i have 5687 and 1pc e88cc too.
any suggestion?

Low gain tubes would be ones such as 6N6P , 6H30, 5687, all below 20 mu.

5687 will take 12.6 Volts but you would have to rewire for the 6 series.

And all sounding very nice.

12AX7 has an mu of 100!

J Broskies design reduces the mu.

You could investigate the Aikido to reduce gain.

5687 for input tube and 12ax7 for output maybe?

search for 5687 line preamp schematics here and on net ;

I abandoned these search in last several years because probably I see them all and I usually make my own things from scratch .

in any case - stage with lower mu tube ( without or with moderate global feedback) will sound much better than any stage with drekload of global feedback

YMMV , as always ......
