John, my experience is the same than Nelson's one: Moving-away wires, printed boards, and even transfo 1 or 2 centimeters away from steel boxes surfaces usually solve the problem. No mystery.

The threshold of thd is about 2-3cm for steel. This was measured and reported on by researchers in Japan a looooong time ago. Thx-RNMarsh
