I'm glad to announce that after much talk with IeGO, I finally secured a small quantity of IeGO's quality spades for speaker cable.
Their "Silver for all" model YS-938 series: ![]() This is the entry silver spade designed for those user who would like to use more silver product in their system, but is deterred by the cost of silver connectors. Well, wait no more, this is made with 99.99% pure silver (Beware of sterling silver, which is only 92.5% pure), the final production will be gold plated to prevent silver oxidization (photo shown is unplated version). This spade is designed for up to moderately heavy cable, if you have ultra heavy cable, this spade would not be suitable for that application. Please consider our next spade AG-010 instead. It will be available around early/mid March, and a pre-order page will be placed in our web store soon: Regular Price: $80 Pre-Order Price: $72 (10% discount for pre-orders) Silver weight: 3.4grams (+/- 0.1g) For those who want even better silver spades, here's IeGO's cold forged Ag-010 silver spade (also gold plated in the final production) ![]() This spade is designed for mid-range users or those who want to use heavy cable with silver spades. Instead of using the more economical press to make the silver spade, 010 uses precision cold forging manufacturing process for more precise and stronger overall build. This spade will also be available at around the same time, the price is: Regular price: $120 pre-order price: $108 (10% discount) silver weight: 6.5grams (+/- 0.1g) If you have previous experience with silver or silver plated products, you might be weary of silver's "well known" brightness and sometimes harsh sound. Well, this is only partially true, as thin silver plating or impure silver does make the sound bright and harsh. However, good quality silver actually sounds very neutral with lots of detail and delivers excellence response and impact. A some even remarked that high quality silver actually sounds like high quality copper, except with all attributes just another step or two above copper products. Since this spade will be plated with gold, it will actually make it sound even more refined in addition to silver's detail, clarity, power and overall neutral tone.
