| This little corner of cyberspace has been dedicated to the exchange of ideas and assistance without cost, without bias, without commercialism. And we'd like it to stay that way. The reality is that it costs money to run both server and software just to keep the site running as is. The moderators and staff do their work here on a volunteer basis, but the high traffic we get here means that the basic site bandwidth costs are significant. And the traffic gets larger day by day- we have now over 20,000 registered members! Unfortunately, this success means that we'll go dark if we can't find a way to meet those costs. diyAudio.com is a resource AND a community. Where did you go when you needed some advice on veneering a loudspeaker cabinet, matching a transistor, stabilizing a feedback loop or understanding a difficult concept? To read, (and participate in), entertaining exchanges about the latest-and-greatest technologies between passionate and intelligent people who share your hobby? To get links to specific information that you needed? To find that devilishly-rare part? So, we're asking you to help us now. What did those last RCA plugs cost you? How about that power cord or those new woofers? What did tickets to that last hi-fi show cost you? Isn't it worth a few bucks to keep this resource going? If you have found this site useful or entertaining, we would ask you to kick in a small donation. It's voluntary, but we need every bit we can get just to stay alive. Your donation can be public, private, or anonymous- it IS voluntary, after all. We'd suggest US$20 as a base, but we'd like any of our members who can afford it to go higher. Now, besides the internal satisfaction you'll get knowing that you helped out this community in time of need, we'd like to offer a special reward to members who contribute above the $20 threshold- customized titles. No longer will you be in the anonymous herd of mere members. Kick in some funds and you can be a Guru, an Audio God, a Virtual Destroyer, a Grand Wazoo, a Supreme Shepherd of Electrons. Anything you like (so long as you keep it clean). It's our minor way of saying, "Thanks!" and your way of letting everyone know that when we needed help, you delivered. About once a year, we'll be asking for your help in this way. We're planning on some other promotional goodies, too, to help close the gap if voluntary donations aren't enough. T-shirts, coffee mugs, even some special privileges on the forum. Anything that we can raise beyond our basic costs will be plowed back into the site. Members want and deserve more features for the forum, more participation by industry experts, and continuous improvement in the user interface. If we're flush, we could even bring back an option to display images instead of just links. And that's where your donations will go, to keep diyAudio.com the best central resource for audio construction on the Internet. You can donate via the PayPal button below, or contact us to make alternate arrangements. And the diyAudio.com community thanks you for your help when we needed it. PS. To get your custom title, please contact the Webmaster, SY or planet10 after making a donation.
