TH-18 Flat to 35hz! (Xoc1's design)

But that was over 8 years ago - Where are the new killer designs?
Since the thread started
Speaker technology and amplifiers have progressed.
Hornresp has become far more powerful a tool and we know better how to use it.

Xoc Some of us did move on to bigger better things and are currently exploring planar/paraflex designs, although not actively on the DIY forum. These sub designs require drivers with extreme motor force, and uses lots of new HR magic, so all the latest stuff you mentioned.

@groovejungle: You really do not need the 'MK2 magic cabinet' Just build the excellent and well documented TH18 design from Xoc, leave out the top three small 45' corners (don't need it). Brace well, slap a SW115 inside and crossover at 30hz/bw24 and 110hz/bw24. Build at least 8 and you will happy for a long time.

I know that leaving out the top 3 small 45deg corners increases the volume inside the cabinet but what effect exactly does this have? More SPL/efficiency?

speaker boxes

Is this speaker box similar to theTH18 design.
Has two 18 inch speakers

If I am going to spend the money & time in the shop, why not go toward the more optimum design?

Did anyone build and test the rehash of mk1 shown that Xoc showed in post #1038? It is just a tiny bit larger cabinet that the first XOC TH18, but has the cone compensation and a longer path due to the change in the throat. I am looking for the most output I can get 85Hz down, in the smallest package. I would be filtering at 30Hz HP and 90Hz LP. . .

Go for it, as long as you are using the spec driver it'll help eek a bit more out of the system.

Good day!

I would want made enclosure for my A&D audio SCD18L1202 speakers. I have 2 MTH30 with faital W12N8-700, he has not bad spl and this sound i like and i has decide to made TH -type boxes for 18".
With watching different TH plans in internet, i has interested plans by Martin (Xoc1) in this topic.

I would like quest few questions.
What plan worth considering? first version TH, TH mk.2 or TH first version with cone correction? Or at all is worth to backtrack for TH type enclosure and watch to other sub plans for this speakers?
I most fear, that in TH ,cone may be destructed by uneven air pressure.

P.S I am sorry for my text. I am from russia and know english bad.

Hi everyone,

I have been following this thread for some time now and I am currently building a pair of these TH designs.

From what I have read in this thread the B&C 18SW115-4 would be the preferred driver but I am unable to get my hands on one in continental Europe, therefore the two best alternatives I can get, are the 18lw2400 (4Ohm) from the original design or the B&C 18SW100 (8Ohm) which one will perform better ?

Power deliver is not an issue since I am planing to use a FP 14000 to run them.

Hey, I'm new here.

This box seems to be such a great design and I really want to get one built. I am 161 pages through this forum trying to take in as much information as possible but it has taken me 2 days to get to this point and I still have over 100 more pages to go.

Please could someone provide me with the newest plan including cone correction if possible??

I want to send them over to my builder so that he can price it up for me and make a start.

I am planning on using 18lw2400 in these boxes. They seem the most cost effective to me? Unless something better has been suggested past the point I have read up to?
