New 15" full range - FANE

Has anybody played and compared both Fanes 12-250TC, and FC-152F01TC ?

No, but I suppose the cone might not be as rigid due to larger size and similar weight, and there might be more bass output and less highs.

I think you will only gain a bit more bass output while other areas might suffer.

But for OB and standalone the 15 inch might be a better choice overall due to cone area and thus more low end.

On the other hand you could just put the 12 inch into a closed box.
It will still sound superb.

Alternatively you could add a sub.

Thanks. My objective is only HF to midrange and nothing below 100Hz. Below 100Hz, its a 15" woofer doing the low end duty. Its a 2 way OB setup.

So using Fane 15" instead of 12" Fane would rather make me lose HF and midrange ? No benefits here in going from 12" to 15" ?

I have not compared them myself, but the 15" has very much energy up top. You are not loosing HF and midrange with the 15", they are probably different in some areas like off-axis, but both have a rising response. The 15" is probably more sensitive/gives more spl/watt.
I have not had the time to measure the one driver I used diluted PVA on, but did have to remove the experimental eq that was running. So now the treated one is sans eq the stock one is with eq (-8 or -9 db at 7khz).
Might have time to measure them today.

Measurement of the 12 inch:

The 12 inch has a little more top end.
But also not as much SPL as the 15 inch.
The 15 inch looks more "flat" and has more low end.

In theory I could measure the 12 inch today.
Let`s see how it goes.

Here. Measured "quite loud" with the umik positioned 61cm distance from center of cone. Tried firing the speakers into the room, but there is a little bit of disturbance of measurement <900hz

I do not get it, the Treated one "sounds" a lot more mellow, maybe it's the very slightly reduced dip between 5-6khz combined with the small reduction of the peak at 6,8khz that makes all the difference?
RED = with PVA
GREEN - Au naturel

No clue. But that was my contribution for now, gonna play some 'choons!

Edit:
Added one with 1/12th oct smoothing for easier comparison.

Edit2:
Actually, from the factory graph, one might argue that the off-axis of the 15" may be better up top. And per watt, the 15" seems more sensitive up top than the 12". But this is nitpicking.

I am very happy with them. And thats very important, because the missus demanded build stop of speakers for 10 years, 9 left now, I am however interpreting it as "no new purchases of drivers". Luckily I have some spare thingys that needs boxes. :)

GP: playing Dr. israel vs loop - Saidisyabruklinmon
Heard that one?

Scott:
It worked really well for me in OB, takes a beating and keeps smiling. It would be my "one driver you can take to a lonely island", provided that I can bring my computer with music and dsp. And a nice amp as well

Yes, it's all about compromise, which keeps it interesting, imagine how boring it would be if there was only one right way to do something ;)

There is!
One right way to do everything: At the best of your ability, surrounding circumstances and budget.

Edit:
GP: I take it you do not know Shy FX either? Mostly drum'n'bass, slightly on the "pop" side but he has some classic tunes.
More on the laidback side is the tune "Soon Come" and the Incognito remix of "Feelings".

Could not find the Incognito remix of "Feelings" on youtube, but apparently it is on *spotify*, which I loathe with intensity.
