Now Playing + What are you listening to?

I am actually not listening to anything right now, but I am lending an ear to the Eurovision Song Contest.
This is a BIG European event, where the European countries contributes with music written by the countries' composers, performed by national artists supported by local choirs and dancers ... Excuse me folks, I am lying and I am lying a lot.
In Swedish news program aimed at cultural events, the ESC was called " a graveyard for dying musical genres". That is, a rather correct analysis of this mega-spectacle.

I thought there was only one genre Magnus ....... * crap , not the same without Tel anyway :)

When you hear jungle drums in ECS, they are leaving the music scene, as goes for rock mixed with opera ->going out.

There was nothing really to watch yesterday evening and we spent an hour watching the terrible mess from Kiev.

What's worst with the crap, the winner is not singing the best tune, but is the most political correct song.

I should listen to Marillion's Marbles today to clean out my ears.

There are ONE song I heard that really was VERY good,
THIS ONE, and it wasn't even competing.:D

Oh Yeah - Charles Mingus

It's funny I don't own a single album by Mingus. I do own a nice jazz compilation double album from Prestige with one of his songs on it, which I consider nigh perfect. The song us "Work Song", it is recorded live in a small venue, and features Mal Waldron on piano, George Barrow on sax, and Eddie Bert on trombone (and some drummer). The song has a wonderful dark feel, I hope it was snowing outside that night. That feeling is enhanced by Waldron's heavy left hand, and the trombone solo makes the song for me. I would love to find the album it came from someday, but I have never found a copy.
