The Pass Pub: The High-End Off Topic Thread

Google has an AI division. The director of that division has made it very clear that they use info gathered from their browser to help build this AI "consciousness". Recently they have been promoting programs that ask how people feel in certain situations. It has been suggested that this is the beginning of their attempt to build "feelings" or other types of human responses into the system. With the release of Google Glass, they now have the ability to record the visual world as seen through the eyes of humans. What do you guys think about the reality or possiblity that we will see a interactive droid in our time. Seems silly, but your hear about stuff like graphene and you realize the world/progress has not stopped for us.

Edit:
I still like the sound of tubes though:)

AI has been a neat study since the 50's. It is mostly a matter of definitions. Comps have for long been able to both overcalculate and "learn" way over the human standards. There is nothing creepy or "god-like" about it.

I find new thinking more fascinating then copied thinking to be honest. One might think there was resistance to new thinking under the catholic churchs rule in the mid ages. I think that is nothing compared to modern national economical thinking. It is much more rigid then the catholic church has ever been.
