I use a simple but good quality power supply from Tentlabs...

In the meantime I've also ordered these (thanks for the suggestion Palmito), which look excellent on paper, one will power my BBB+cape and one for my WaveIO board (my HDD/SSD will get a seperate USB 5Vdc feed).

Accoording to the specification the BBB will draw 210-460 mA @ 5V excluding Russ his cape. So hopefully a 1A PSU will do the job.

Tried posting this once, but it was removed for some reason?

I am strong believer in shunt regulators for potentially noisy things like Pi and BBB so I use this - ebay item 221233153412. Well made and cheap, but needs modifying to work at 5v/1A.

Simulates well and with some tweaks will exceed -130dB PSRR!

Almost anything is better than standard ac wall adapter though!

Upgraded power supplies for the SqueezeBox have been discussed for several years now, and John Swenson made some interesting comments on this subject here -

You will see that his regulator design is "non-exotic", except for the inclusion of an expensive Hammond choke.

I think that regulator is originally from AnalogMetric -

I would expect that the DSD pin configuration follows the same convention used by the ES9018 inputs:

PCM LRCK (D1 on Buffalo) = DSD data 1
PCM DATA (D2 on Buffalo) = DSD data 2

Thanks for that, the I2S is covered, Im looking for the DSD pins that Volumio is apparently capable of streaming, I assume the same pins as the I2S but what config? Should I just start hunting with a CRO?

hochopeper, most of the ALSA drivers only support DSD via DoP, not direct stream. Miero and I will be working on supporting actual direct stream DSD via the BBB cape. This requires muliplexing output pins with a bus mux. The cape will support output to B3/B3SE etc - and it should work fine with other DACs (wm8741 etc) too if they are designed to support DSD.
 
The software side of DSD support for BBB is in development too.

It requires reprogramming of BBB audio device driver to generate DSD stream on its outputs. DSD is close to I2S multichannel, however a bit different so it takes some time to study datasheet and hack the kernel driver.

If I succeed up to 4 DSD channels would be available for playback.

Keep tuned, I hope there will be more news soon.
