Agree with Ranchu32, to push good thoughts about PMI, he also did Bonsai's NX amp and lots of distribution of difficult to source or in certain areas expensive components to members, with no profit. Sadly seems he owe some members stuff, but am shure it wasn't planned, and hope it gets solved in time, like i hope he is not laying too much down with crisis stuff that he can't get up again.

My experience with the US Postal service has been very poor. Anyone in Australia would be wise to choose the next level up of postage. The equivalent of registered.

Out of three packages I've had sent over the years from the US as standard airmail exactly ZERO have arrived. The last one came back to the sender some six months after being sent. Sending using the more expensive postal option (I think it added about $10) it arrived safely in a reasonable time.

Tony.

That's exactly what I am talking about. I think that for ordinary post US Post are using different kinds of alternative transportation (meaning cheaper kinds) that are very unreliable. That's very unfair for users of their services because they charge high prices even for the basic services.

PMI unnecessarily burdened himself with the offer to send us parts too. That's so time consuming and complicated! I think that GBs should consist of pcbs only. People should buy parts that are easily available to them, even if the parts are substandard. I believe that basic sound signature of VSSA (or any other topology) would be achieved with ordinary parts. If one has access to exotic hard-to-find parts it's also OK.

I experienced hard times with USPS shipments from USA to Netherlands. Especially if they consisted of voluminous packages. Envelopes were always delivered quite fast (5-7 working days). Packages sometimes took 2 months with return to sender and resend in one occasion.
As much as possible I avoid purchasing anything from USA because of that reason (5 years ago it was clearly better...)

That is why I can only hope PMI didn't send the package at all. It's of course no means to pressure him and I am sure he has bigger problems than me waiting for his PCB's (I have anyway something else to do). But not all the people are the same, so probably a short clarification note on the forum from him or some neighbor forum members helping (as suggested by LC) can only do some good thing to people who paid and are waiting.
Cheers!

PMI sent me big package full of valuable parts, including output tranies for Bonsai's nx, plus 4 cap multiplier pcbs, 4 months ago. I never received it and consider package lost in transport. No need to say that postage was 18 dollars plus incredible pain in the a** for PMI concerning filling of customs declaration and waiting in lines at the Post Office! I can not finish Bonsai's nx without the parts needed.

USPS probably works just fine within US, but as far as international deliveries are concerned, it's disaster!

Here in Scotland I have received countless packages from the US - I can't think of one which went astray - these covered small items of small value right through to US$1000 + fishing rods etc. Same applies to items from Germany. The only problems I have had have been with Italy....in both directions, yet higher value items have got to me, small run of the mill stuff has not. Italian Customs is a well known nightmare often taking months to clear an item!

Sending parcels from here it is best to ask for signed for delivery...costs a few % more but the receipt shows that it was posted! Also those Paypal scammer types have to sign to get the goods and this will thwart their attempts at getting a refund.

The point is that it is difficult to generalize!

oh, lets just hope PMI did not loose his package

but right I don't see what we can do other than maybe give him a bit more time

I sure hope he will be able to return

btw, this is just a personal post ... I also bought a few boards

but so far noone knows how many boards we are talking about

maybe someone could make list, privately by forum PM

believe me, I do know all too well what a famely crisis can do to you

but I do not know many reasons that would make you unable to post a simple message

sorry to say, but personally I fear its all over now

I just hope PMI is ok

Hi everyone,
now I'm a bit worried too :worried:

I hope PMI will be here soon... I will try to send an email to him...
but maybe someone already did, but it doesn't work

We hope he replied it, right :)

I tried to send him a private email, twice, without response (bear in mind the first was just well wishing and the second was just yesterday). As was previously suggested, my last communication was an offer to step in and complete his current obligations to those who have already paid if he can't. I also suggested that if possible he just take a few minutes to let those people he has engaged in a transaction with know what the status is to put some minds at ease. Whether anything come of it I can't say, we are just internet acquaintances, not personal friends. At least I gave it a shot.

I'm glad some of you guys are enjoying your VCCSAs. :)

I'll give it a little bit more time on the PMI situation. Hopefully he'll come through. I've ordered stuff from group buys (aleph etc) to the UK before by US mail and never had an issue.

One thing I am a bit wary of from past cases of delayed shipments, is that cases that involve Christmas time and money don't usually have favorable outcomes (for the recipient).
