Could you clarify some points about this for me please?

In your picture I'm not certain about the meaning of the red and the blue lines. For the red, you only show a 1uF surface mount between pins 1 and 2. For the blue, you show a 1uF leaded cap and a 100nF leaded cap.

What I'm unclear about is do you only need the 100nF you install a leaded 1uF capacitor? Or do you still need the 100nF capacitor if you install the surface-mount 1uF capacitor (in red)?

Also, should this modification be performed on all of the regulators, or just certain ones?

I can tell you what I did.
I added both 0.1 and 1 uf sm caps to each of the 5 regs, which go across the middle of the board. They are all the same design, so I figured any one of them could have the same stability problem.

It took a little while to install the caps, you need to have some sm experience to use sm caps.

Here the 58a standby for you.

Hi Andrea, Is this definitely version 58a ? My K150 programmer arrived a few days ago and I have been testing - assuming the programmer is working OK, this 58a standby firmware comes up as 57a when loaded up into the programmer. The display does not come on at all although the DAC goes from standby to on when power on the remote is pressed. It does not go back to standby and the display remains off.

standby version only

I forgot to change the text 57a with 58a on standby but it work.

If you give power on DAC the display start to displaly ###... and after this few second it switch-off the lcd backlight, this is correct.

If you press the button on remote the DAC pass from standby to switch-on.

Unfortunately, does not work well and is a regression from the original standby firmware:( . It does work as above but the backlight never comes on. I also cannot go from switch-on to standby. This defeats the purpose of standby.

While testing, I noted a problem with mpd using linux. Solved, thanks to dickiegeorge (http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/vend...i2s-384khz-dsd-converter-184.html#post3711608) in the amanero thread. With firmware 1.80 on the amanero, mpd playback is distorted with the DAC defaulting to 44.1 on all PCM samples above 44.1. Works fine with 44.1 and DSD. Works fine with DeadBeeF, hqplayer and foobar. Solved by reverting to firmware 1.74 on the amanero. Would be good to have a wiki on these issues!

Andrea, could I possibly have the 56c standby firmware hex file? The 56c works better (backlight is on) whilst the 58a has the backlight off with seemingly no way for me turn it back on! Both firmwares do not allow return to standby from the power-on state. I have kept my 56c PIC safe and used one of the opther ones you sent me for testing. I do not really want to keep swapping the chips and run the risk of breaking something!

I was actually wondering if I can possibly have the source code for the firmware? I think I might be the only one with the standby version and would not be fair for you to be spending time trying to sort out my problems! As I have said before, I am also quite keen on trying to implement the trigger in/out functions and control via the PIC / a separate daughter board.

Also, is it possible to have an up-to-date schematic of the controller board? What does the jumper marked RSET do? I presume it is a reset of some sort but reset what? I guess J2 is for external 3.3V power (closed in mine). I am wondering what does J3 do (left open in mine) ?

Do you see the backlight on at the begin with the character ####.... ?

I have tested in my environment and it run.

Have you found problems with 1.80 firmware version on Linux ?
