I believe the 4henry would be the best choice due to it's higher saturation current 575mA :)

Will surely work but the thing with inductors is that they have a working space in current handlng. The maximum is decided by the area of the carrier and the saturation of the core. They also have a minimum, when they start being inductors. Under that its just a lot of wire.

that is a totally new concept to me... what would be your choice if drawing 350mA at 35V ?

Two 10henry coils in parallel ?

Its the current handling spec that sets your first choice. As first device in a filter I recommend overspecing due to high ripple.

I dont think we should further emphase any basic PSU debate in this thread tho. Google is your friend or start a new thread and link us up if you want a crash course;)

Ask your cart's manufacturer at what kind of load it gives about 1mV also. That XmV from XOhm to YKOhm reference is vague to say the list.

I sent them email. Lets see what will be the answer. I'm not sure if they know such details since Ply made by Benz Micro for them. I already asked such question Benz Micro about 3 month ago, but no reply. Please see attached picture taken from Full Circle TT documentation about that cartridge.

3. I do you know if quad of 2SK369BL in mini-kit are matched? I got a quad of these as a kit from Mike. If not, I see the matching method recommendation in your BIB manual and it is easier than in Folded manual. No need to use any resistor. Can we use that simple method described via link in BIB manual for 2KS369BL and 2SK170BL?

The 2SK369BL and 2SK170's provided are all measured and marked.
The 2SK369BL's will go from 10mv-14mv marked to the .01v as actually
measured under my bench conditions. They should be well matched. Other numbers are certainly there for index sorting on a spreadsheet to give best match.

Dont forget to order the correct R2,R3 resistors in accordance to the build guide. They are not included in my Riaa minikits.

The 2SK170BLs need to be placed accordance to build guide.

Q4 for the one measured between 8.2-8.5, Q5 is between 7.5-8.2, Q6 measures usually above 9mv, but certainly greater than Q4 as specified.

BC517G - moisture sensitivity

For the first time I have received transistors that come with a moisture warning. The BC517G, by ON Semi, have a sticker that tells me they have a closed bag shelf life of one year, need to be mounted within 168 hours of opening the bag or stored at < 10% RH. It just so happens that I have a dessication chamber at work, but I would like to know if this is a problem I need to be concerned with. The warning talks a lot about reflow and baking problems so I do not know if this warning applies to me, an occasional DIYer with a soldering iron.

Of course I opened the bag BEFORE I read the warning.

Thanks
Jim

Jim, maybe that post was aimed at a DCB1 thread? That is weird anyway. I have maybe a 100 of those bought without a bag a couple of years ago, stored without a bag. I will curve trace a sample and check leakage measurement, to see if they get affected.

Are there two models in existence, one low and one high, or that spec is a range of output VS loading? Clear that with the manufacturer. Give them your S/N number to tell you which one you got if there are two models. Ask them at what resistive load it gives out 1mV if its one model. After you will know, if its a weird beast with a nowhere grouped output we can still devise resistor values for some intermediate gain in your phono. But we need concrete data.

It is a one module with the range of 0.58-1.5 mV. I asked them with my S/N when I purchased it. That I know for sure.
I sent them email today (to TT manufacture). Lets see what they will answer.
I do not know if make sense to ask Benz Micro again. They did not answer in the past.

They got precision lab instruments, they could run a test record with known velocity and test output for 3-4 load intervals.
They don't sell cheap USB sticks or cotton candy, they sell very expensive exclusive gear, they should be specific. I.e. press they will test for an answer.

In due time I will also build a new folded using Salas boards... I did not have time to study it so I do not know if the ft-3 can be installed, but it is surely one of the best interstage caps available.

For the 47n cap I rely on obbligato gold and as for the treble (15n) cap I do prefer relcaps (styroflex on tin foil).

Let us know what you can get.

Off course the values are much more important than cap types, so after you choose your preferred ones, please measure them and post the values here so I can do a proper sim.

PS: I moved to Switzerland so we can not meet in person right now :)
Thanks Ricardo,
I will try to have time, early next year, because at this time I am traveling abroad each week, leaving me almost no time to do my research nd some DIY.

Hi guys, i am gather parts for my folded simplistic. Just a couple of questions :C6/8- would a lower value cap affect the performance? I 've got 100uF 100V Elna cerafine for that position or should i get something bigger as recommended ie 470uF 50V( which i have some Nichicon fine gold). The other question is C4 value , can i use 3.3uF capacitor? Would it affect the output frequency?
TIA.
