Asked before, yes, but worth repeating anyway... +/- 50V.

As it stands, the output voltage is limited by the voltage across the transistor at startup. The specified pass transistors are rated at 55V. So, allowing for some headroom, that gives us 50V. With different parts, it can be more. I would like to be able to use it to about 60~63V eventually.

With a few minor component changes, it will work as a normal voltage regulator too. With numbering according to PMI's version, the changes would be:

R1/2 => 2.2K
R3/4 replace with 5.6V zener diodes
R7/8 => 22K
R9/10 => 18K

This should give an output voltage adjustable between approximately 12-50V. The component values are the result of some quick calculations, I haven't actually tested it. Extra care would have to be taken to ensure that the pass transistors have adequate heatsinking.

Cool, I think a couple people have been waiting for something like that! :up:

The heatsink I specified in the BOM is rated at a thermal resistance of around 11 C/Watt. I believe there are alternatives to around 5~6 C/Watt with a similar vertical mount. The pass transistors can also be mounted from the bottom, and attached to a much larger heatsink or to the chassis.

I am keeping a separate list, so no names are going to get lost. All requests for boards from the original batch have been shipped.

Two separate lots of boards are on order, spares have been ordered so there will be extras for any stragglers. Anyone is welcome to change the quantity they signed up for, and you are not committed to anything (well, until you send actual money - or bring beer in person... :D)

I will start sending out "invoices" to the first people on the list in two days, after I inspect the first boards from this lot. The last one had a small "surprise", and although I had approval on the production artwork this time, I want to make really sure that does not happen again.

I also do not want people to pay and wait for an indeterminate time b/f I ship.
