Poor you....Do you have any idea about the treasures you missing out on...??

I have to agree with MiiB on this.
Most of my records are from the second hand shoop.
I have Chieftains Bonaparte Retreat from Shanachie records(Shanachie 79026)
and Island ILPS9432 newer unscratched reprint the original sound much much better much more dinamics and on Island one can clearly ear Echo before music realy start
The Shanachie Cutting Late engineer was real artist and toke its time to get things Just right Island engineer had to work with old master.
And at times I have found real tressures like Black Sabath first print absolutley mint (vertigo VO6) OR Joy Division Peter Saville box set or realy old BBking and such.

I do have same (3 or 4) audiophile reprints on 180g and do love them (EG Pulse) but can't stop thinking how detached from the art (as spontaneous expression form) the rework process transorm a record.
I am not saiing that is like taking perfect picture of a painting but certanly there is quite a lot of change from when a record go to sale (whil it flop or will it sale whill it ever reach the charts?) to when, maybe after a few years, is repocessed for Audiophile Printing.

Won't all this once again change the Flawor?
About listening to CD I must confess that I do listen to them as well especialy while I am driving.

Sorry Riccardo
You numbered the transistors?
How did you do that?
I got them mesured up for HFE and used the best lot with HFE whit in 10.
I followed the schematic.

I have numbered the BC's also (they are glued to a page with numbers and values... the computer helps me find best matches... after that I just need to populate the boards following the numbers :)

Quick update on my amp

Everything is placed on the board, tonight I will try to fire it up :)

Nice to see Salas here I must say his Simplistic is just back stage at the moment but not forgotten.

.... Bonding BJT... tanks for this realy got me thinking...

Polar opposite pre amp approaches, ought to be so different. One thing they share is shunt psu genes though.
Bonding at least 2 key BJTs was recommended in the Reflektor mirror reg, remember? Here I did not see any that is why I was asking, maybe in this mirror its a minor consideration and only a PITA as many mirrors are used.

I do remenber bonding in the reflektor :) I raised that question here long ago but somehow it was not considered important.

PS: They share the shunt idea and also the passive riaa filter.... That is why I became so much interested.

Simulating does not reval big changes in mirror gain or impedance with different HFe's could be that the cascoded mirror with helper transistor is close to "ideal" and reflects the impedance of the source driving it. Also mirror gain is not determined by HFe but by the size of the degeneration resistors.

I have in a mid version of the Paradise used Quad SMD type transistors. this also works well and take a lot of matching out, but then I built one with just what I had, and could see no more or no less drift. or tendency for the servo to work harder... The design seems quite robust, but off course the input stage deserves matching...

The emitter degeneration helps a lot on the matching side...and 10-20 maby even 50 should not pose a problem with tracking. The resistor for current gain that needs attention selection or maybe buy close tolerance resistors are the ones used in the top and button of the current mirrors. (R120) ohm's i believe, The value is not so important the matching is of greater importance.
