Just joined to seek out information and show these babies that I bout for 4 buck each after someone threw them away.
Absolutely beautiful sound and can handle some volume.
The 12" is a Richard Allan CG12 and that's all I know. Havent checked the tweeter as of yet.
Pretty happy with them. Although running a $600 sherwood 7.1 reasonably new amp (with 6 other smaller speakers), so dont know if something in similar price range would bring the sound out better.

I think the mid driver is a Philips; similar looking drivers were used in a bunch of classic 70s speakers. Could you post a close-up of the tweeter? Congrats - looks nice!
looks like a Philips as well - the mid is same model as "used in a bunch of classic 70's speakers" ( Dahlquist DQ10 for one), yes it's pretty OK
Here tis. Theyve got a very clean and warm sound to them even at full volume. Richard Allan as Ive found out mainly here was well respected and the company is one of the few licensees producing the BBC LS3/5A.

Mid and tweeter (AD0160 or variant) are both Philips.
The mid is in its own enclosure? Could be the mid-bass built into a wooden box, or the swaker with its built on cyclindrical plastic cup.
XOs of this vintage were more often than not, poor. Can we see a picture of that?

Cheers heaps for that Dave, great to find out good information. Unfortunately a fair bit of the last 2 sentences went over my head. Could you please explain "swacker" and XOs? Cheers.
Could you please explain "Squawker" and XOs? Cheers.
XO = Cross over.
Squawker (probably still mis-spelled) is an old-timey word for mid-range. The Phillips number will be something like SQ-5060.

Or, if your classic 70s speakers are pretentious like mine, your midrange is a "phase link."Squawker (probably still mis-spelled) is an old-timey word for mid-range.
XOs. There's a little yellow something under that cardboard square :?

Is the dustcap pushed in? Perhaps time for a dustcap-ectomy and finding and repurposing something for phase plugs.
dave
In just a tad. Would a dyson to do the dustcap-ectomy recommended?
Might look something like this (with pretentious phase link).I think Dave was looking for photo of the Crossover - you'll need to get inside the box for that - pulling the woofer is usually sufficient.

I have had little luck fixing a paper dustcap pushed as far in as yours. It might be possible to carefully push them in equally to become concave dustcaps. Otherwise just cut them out (a dustcap-ectomy)

hopefully the yellow something is a small plastic cap. A minimal XO. Can you read the values?
This box would be a good candidat efor pulling the mid & tweeter, and adding a decent small FR and make a FAST.
