The Pass Pub: The High-End Off Topic Thread

To me it means so much to these structures because these are represent the stability of their own right, that is so lacking nowadays.
The motto today is:
Buy it now, and throw it out tomorrow. (Or perhaps today.)

Quote from here:
www.uhrenbausatz.de | Build your personal time-piece [ Manufactory ]

"A clock of this quality will last hundreds of years and will be passed with pride from generation to generation."

Perhaps this attitude is also in Papa amplifiers.

Interestingly, by the way I love the watch-works.
But I do not have my wrist watch.
Maybe I have, but do not wear.
Without this I even know what time it is.
And the time elapsed without it.
But there was a time when I was crazy, because my wrist watch in a month, more than one second late / rush.

disclaimer - that doesn't diminish my fascination with all things technical

...except football.

I too don't care about time in absolute terms yet, because I like watches, I always wear one of three 50+ year old "inherited"Universal Geneve watches, incl one totally manual wind. One is the famous Polerouter, the first watch capable of flight over the poles without problems, whilst another was in the late 60s the thinnest watch available and one is an old steel wind-up. The Polerouter is exceptionally accurate having just been totally stripped down and rebuilt (£40 here in Scotland!)

Again sit alone here.
I swear I'm not a public enemy.
Mainly I'm not threatening over the Internet.
Here's a fitting quote here:

FIRST VOICE

Up the street, in the Sailors Arms, Sinbad Sailors, grandson
of Mary Ann Sailors, draws a pint in the sunlit bar. The
ship's clock in the bar says half past eleven. Half past
eleven is opening time. The hands of the clock have stayed
still at half past eleven for fifty years. It is always
opening time in the Sailors Arms.

SINBAD

Here's to me, Sinbad.
