DIY 50 Hertz and below Sub

Hi Guys, I'd like to build a pair of 15 inch subwoofers and would be grateful for some guidance.

My main speakers are a pair of TAD 2402 speakers biamped. The bass drivers are TAD 15 inch 1601c driven with bridged crown K1 amps. In other words I am getting very impressive mid bass. My room is very well treated. The sub will be 90% movies and 10%. The room is fairly small at 18 x 14 ft although can accommodate fairly large subs but not huge. I am happy to EQ. The sub will be driven with a Crown K1 amp.

I'm looking at a sub that excels in the sub 50hertz range so am looking for a sub that can kick hard below this. I'm interested in quality solid deep bass that can match the quality of the bass from my mains. I am happy to build a sub with 2 x 15 inch drivers if that would improve the objective to achieve the deepest most solid bass.

So advice on:

1. The brand and model number of a driver
2. Any box plans somebody would care to share.

Hi Guys, thanks for the responses. I am familiar with the Danley DTS 10 and it is a monster. I could get away with it if I put it up against the side wall. Petter, I'd never heard of the Kraken but it looks impressive as well. Then I see the Lab12 as well which looks similar. I do prefer horn bass. Has anybody heard the Kraken, LAB12 and Danley DTS 10 and have an opinion on the strengths and weaknesses of each one?

Hi Petter. I have read through the entire Kraken thread now and you have inspired me to build a Kraken. It's a great piece of work.

I see you discussed the Lab12 there as well. I do like the size of the 112 as it is easier to move around the room plus I would have room for more than one. The question is how many Kraken 112s would it take to equal the performance of a single 212?

The "Totem" (named due to the 5 stereo cabinets grafted together to make it) sub could be laid down, and the exit could be out the "skinny" end without affecting the response.
It really does fill in the 20-40 response, but as it is a shop speaker mostly playing the radio, generally not much content down that low.

When some sub 40 content is present in the music, it is quite obvious even in the wood shop, the Totem stands in the electronics room.
