No more 'lifetime' guarantees'!
However, my board supply is limited, and they cost ME over $50ea, in quantity of 100, over 10 years ago.
However, if anyone of you is in the SF Bay Area, you might want to work with me on projects and then we can work something out.

I wish I was in the area... Montreal is a little far...

Ciao!

Enjoy where you live. Perhaps someone else will come out of the woodwork.

Hi John
I am travelling next week end to Fremont to visit my brother ( travelling from Austin TX) - can I get a chance to say hello and visit? and probably get a board ? I have a Vendetta SCP 2A ofcourse enjoying its beautiful sound - would like to compliment that with your Line amp if possible?
thanks

I know that there may be a riot in Berkely if you decide to give away some boards.

There would be riots if he SOLD them. If he gave them away traffic on I-80 would be backed up into Colorado! Wolfsin hopes John now knows how much we appreciate his participation in this thread. It would never have gone beyond ten posts without him.

OTOH, I now have some data on power requirements that makes me wonder whether a pair of Kubotas @500ma max each will be adequate. Then the question of whether 24VAC into the rectifiers will hold 30VDC after the regulators at that current . . .

I know it is class A but still, that's half what the entire Integra Research behemoth requires, audio, video, 7.1, bellz, whistles, and lights for the display. It will double as a space heater in Winter butWhut2do in Summer?:D

I have a few Kubota at home and they work quite well. They're a bit noisier than a good shunt reg but should be more than adequate. I believe they supply 500mA per rail, so it should be ok to use one per JC-80. Just make sure you upgrade your caps to 50V.

Ah, happiness

HappinessIz 500ma per rail. Stanton is so on top! If only the BOMs contained fewer unobtaniums :-( Your reporting current per rail is greatly appreciated, pinnocchio.

The r-cores are 30va so there is no sweat on the current from a pair. It all comes down to the drop across the Kubota. Only one Dale remains to arrive before I can build and test the power chain for one channel. Without a load I am unsure whether my questions will be resolved.

Some of the missing components like the 2SJ109 / 2SK389 V series are parts that Stanton can sell you. Just drop him a line or two and ask if he has some available. I bought several parts from him not shown on his Ebay pages.

for 2SK2013 / 2SJ313 you can buy on DIYaudio from zhoufang. I can send you some if you need.

I do not use the IRF510 / 9510 but instead IRF610 / 9610 which I bought matched from
Tech DIY Company Store at a very reasonable price.

Parts are scattered all over the planet but at least it is still possible to get them

Just grousing, actually happy

The picked over state of duals led me early on to decide to match singles and thermal bond them. I plan to use your recommended source for 9610/610. The rest I have. More a sore point than anything real. Since the vendors consider it IP so the bugs cannot be driven away by the light of day :-(

From a cold start, about how long does it take your JC-80 to thermally balance?

Who is Stanton Tin?

Who is Stanton?

He is the Manager of Jim's Audio eBay audio store in Hong Kong. Knowledgeable, suffers Wolfsin's questions without grimmace, is right 99% of the time, and answers email promptly. Search on 'JC-80 class A' to find the pcb that is the topic of this thread. Even without an introduction such as "Dick and Do" sent me he'll treat you well. With that intro, maybe not so much :)

Off topic...

yeah, I just bought his headphone amp PCB (the one with the National semiconductors) and two of the Kubota power supplies. Looking forward to awesome performance!

Hi dirkwright,

If you have just bought the PCBs then you can also look at this one...
Ventus EZ Headphone Driver

Everything is included!

Sorry... a little off topic... My bad... :D

I bridged a pair of those across my Senns until I accidentally blew the electrolytics on one of them. I scrounged the 49600s for the frankenwires I am building (had not soldered tabs) but most of the other parts and the pcb are OK. It is yours for the postage if you PM your address.

I think you will enjoy the sound. I carefully matched the resistors and achieved near 0v DC out. You might find the thread on 'the wire' of interest.
