plain Papa's CCS ( Aleph one , without modulation ) is good enough and easier on parts ......

joking , off course ..... but just to say that for 2A CCS in that position , one doesn't need rocket science CCS ( which Salas's iteration of cascoded CCS certainly isn't if we are taking rocket science in funny way ) ........

I can only repeat it......

Zen Mod is faster than lightspeed and warpspeed together....

Zen Mod is a consortium and has his clones in every Internet cable...

When I did not know the orientation in the scheme of Salas SK 170 and the BF 245 and I mailed him, the answer came in two minutes, can this be a human being.....? :D:D:D:D:D:D

Slowly I got the idea..... The SIT demands too less current because I was prudent with my 5V. Ok I choose 2,6V and all was working fine.....green LEDs burning, voltage about 13V.

Sound is completely different from the sound in the MU follower constellation. Now the F4 is darker and the SIT brighter. I could not hear loud, too late, my wife already was sleeping, but this is more the sound I was waiting for, I think....

Let see tomorrow better how it marries then. Interesting.

Why without modulation?

My intension is to upgrade my ZEN4 with the Sony SK82 KD-33 chip and dump the input buffer and go direct on gate on SK-82 with 47k to GND and some smaller Gate series resistance.

Using the Aleph current source gives a better Rout for normal loudspeakers, and the feedback will then be an option to play with...

There are also the voltage feedback to the regulator in the original ZEN4 design, it was for some reason not used in ZEN9, but I don't know why? Perhaps better leave it off?

Also the output voltage at 21-23V and supply at 42-46V seems a little high for SK-82, as the sweetspot was reported in the range of 13-14V and 2-3A?

Still waiting for the postman for the highwattage resistor set and having some free time......

I put the same xformer in front of the SIT like I use with my F4. So this time the SIT has the higher gain......
Pre is at the moment a very simple B1 made in 10 minutes, so not really state of the art...

Conclusion a good pre with some gain is good for the SIT. I do not think that a buffer alone is favorable in this case.....

Trumpets over the SIT, VERY good! The same with voices.....:)

That's what I found in Wikipedia about that phrase:

steely-eyed missile man
English

Etymology
American circa 1960's, as heard in the movie Apollo 13 and found in numerous biographies about NASA astronauts and flight controllers.

Noun
steely-eyed missile man (plural steely-eyed missile men)

1. (US, slang) A NASA astronaut or engineer who quickly devises an ingenious solution to a tough problem while under extreme pressure.

I asked Tony... He's built the F2J .. but he says he still like the light bulb sound.. Also if you can get different light bulbs with the same rating.. Try light bulb rolling.. sort of like tube rolling.. :D The sound can change quite a bit with different light bulbs.. :)

Do you know something about the experience of Tony with CCS or Mufollower instead of bulbs...... If anybody knows it must be him........wonderful builds, really art.....and music.
