The LCD display was nice, but it wasn't essential. The biggest loss is the lack of a volume knob, and (potentially) the inability to configure the subwoofer crossover. Otherwise, the sound and functionality ought to be the same.

Yes, and we set it 120Hz for sub-woofer crossover. I think it will be easier to use
And we will not give up the LCD version.:) But this one will be simpler(to use) and cheaper.

Another thought: the only two settings that matter to most users are 1) the volume, and 2) the crossover. If you can implement both without an LCD - e.g., adding a volume knob and a dip switch for the crossover - that will probably be enough for the casual enthusiast who simply wants a quality digital amp with subwoofer outputs.

In any case, it will be hard for most DIYers to make an LCD screen look nice in a home-built case (cutting holes, etc.). If the screen is adding unnecessary complexity to the project, then maybe it's not worth the trouble.

Agreed, even simple LED status lights for bitrate, input selection will suffice...

And we will make the crossover configurable with 4X DIP switches on board.

This sounds great. Don't forget to add a setting to turn off the crossover altogether, for people who run their front speakers full-range.

Some sort of physical volume knob is important, ideally in the same place as your T1 and T2 boards (or else detachable), and with the same size shaft as an analog pot (e.g., ALPS) so it can be used with standard volume knobs.

Volume is the one setting that users will need routine access to once the board is installed in a case - everything else can be set with dip switches.

Yes, good suggestions~;)

Hifimediy,

Just to confirm where is the amp section in this setup? I get the feeling it is built in? If so is this upgradable/interchangeable? If not what power ratings are we looking at? And are they able to handle 4-8ohm ratings well?

On a side note:
Now I need to decide what to use for EQ :) Time to find a 31 band EQ program for my computer.

I have a MiniDSP so haven't been interested in all the extra features. I only need 2 channel digital power amp. The extra channel will not be used in my place. I would rather have 2 channel amp with one powerfull channel and one medium powered channel. But we all would like just the amp that's perfect for our specific use. Maybe you could make a ultra simpel and "clean" 2 channel version, and a more advanced 3 channel version.

How is the sound like? Compared to your tk2050 stuff. I am looking at the qualitative part, warmer, more musical, better detail?

I have the same question. A 100% digital amp - if the hype is correct - should reproduce a digital source more accurately than a digital/analog amp like the TK2050. It should also be less susceptible to interference and sound coloration. So if you listen to music on a computer (particularly high-resolution digital music), this amp promises to be a step forward.

But the only way to know for sure is to try both.
